CACI Satinaki, formally known as Cooperativa Agraria Cafetalera Industrial Satinaki, is a coffee farmers’ cooperative based in the Chanchamayo/Perené region of Junín, Peru. Established in 2017 as an evolution of an earlier farmers’ association, it brings together around 50 smallholder producers, meaning the name “CACI Satinaki” refers to the cooperative as a whole rather than an individual farmer. Among its members are producers like one founding member who is the son of coffee growers and has spent the past 10 years working as an organic coffee producer. He manages a two-hectare farm at approximately 1,500 metres above sea level, cultivating varieties such as Geisha, Marsellesa, and Catuaí, and also holds a professional degree in International Business. The cooperative specialises in high-quality Arabica coffee, including Caturra, Bourbon, Typica, Catuaí, and Geisha, typically grown at elevations between 1,350 and 1,700 metres. These coffees are usually washed and are known for their citrus, floral, and chocolate flavour profiles, with many holding organic certifications that meet EU and US standards. This particular farmer’s work has also been recognised within the cooperative, earning third place in the 2024 Satinaki competition with a coffee scoring 86 points on the SCA scale. More broadly, CACI Satinaki has gained attention for its commitment to traceable and sustainable coffee production, including partnering with the agri-tech company Dimitra to comply with the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR). By using digital mapping, blockchain, and traceability tools to track coffee from farm to export, and by participating in international auctions featuring fully traceable lots, the cooperative has positioned itself at the forefront of efforts to ensure coffee is produced without contributing to deforestation.
